Helen Blakesley qualified as a paediatric nurse in 1998. In 2007 she was appointed Children’s Acquired Brain Injury Specialist Nurse where she developed her keen interest for paediatric rehabilitation. Helen joined the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Major Trauma Service in 2012 as Rehabilitation Co-ordinator. Helen was instrumental in establishing rehabilitation pathways to support children and their families who had sustained life threating traumatic injuries. In 2018 Helen and her colleagues secured funding for a 2 year project. The project supports children and young people to transition back to school following traumatic injury and looks at wider rehabilitation pathways across Greater Manchester.
Helen is a member of the North of England Children’s Rehabilitation Board and Co-chairs the RMCH Rehabilitation Steering Group.
